The primary contacts within North Wales Hydro Power are Richard Rees and Ben Pocock. Richard and Ben are supported by a network of sub-consultants in order to bring an element of extra resource and specialisation to each stage of the development process. We do however have aspirations to grow our in house team and in this regard we welcome enquiries.

Richard Rees

Richard grew up on a family farm in North Wales and therefore fully appreciates the resource which the area boasts in renewable terms. Richard graduated from the University of Reading having studied for a BSc in Land Management and following this he spent 2 years working for Carter Jonas in their Energy Team specialising in the development of hydroelectric and farm scale wind schemes. Richard spotted the opportunities that existed for many landowners across the region and therefore decided that he would set up his own company that would work with Landowners in order to deliver diversification across their farming systems. Richard has already been recognised for his endeavours having been awarded ‘Best New Business Idea by a Young Entrepreneur’, ‘Young Innovator of the Year’ and ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’.

Ben Pocock

Ben also benefits from a rural upbringing and after graduating from Reading University in 2000 with a degree in Land Management Ben spent four years with a national firm of property consultants. Here Ben was involved with immediate and strategic residential development land having experience in agency, valuation and consultancy. Ben then worked for a major national house builder as a Land Manager responsible for securing development sites across the south west of England. Within North Wales Hydro Power Ben is involved with site acquisition including negotiation of terms and legal completion, and for development with a particular emphasis on planning and scheme layout.

Alasdair Barne MRICS

As you may have expected Alasdair also has rural roots having grown up on a family fruit farm in Norfolk. Alasdair graduated from Cirencester in 2009 having completed a Masters Degree in Rural Estate Management. Alasdair then went on to work for Balfours in Shrewsbury where he was primarily involved in Estate Management work dealing with estates mainly in Shropshire. Alasdair benefits from being a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor and will assist Richard and Ben on site development work.
